Dykes on Bikes Victoria Inc. is Victoria's lesbian motorcycle group. In 2006, we celebrated our 10th anniversary as an organisation.

We organise regular rides, monthly meetings and social events for bike riders within the Victorian lesbian community. The group maintains a presence at all major lesbian and gay events around Melbourne and Victoria including Pride March, Midsumma Carnival and the Chillout Festival in Daylesford.

We welcome bikes of all sizes and riders of all abilities and offer information and support to new riders and future riders.

Dyke (lesbian) - a slang term for a lesbian. Originally it was a derogatory label for a masculine or butch woman, and this usage still exists. However, it has also been reappropriated as a positive term implying assertiveness and toughness, or simply as a neutral synonym for lesbian.

Greek Goddess Dike - the goddess of moral justice. She ruled over human justice; her mother (Themis) ruled over divine justice. Dike was born a mortal and Zeus placed her on earth to keep mankind just. He quickly learned this was impossible, and placed her next to him to watch down on the humans from Mt. Olympus.
