Yarra Ranges Motorcycle Safety Ride

The scenic winding roads of the Yarra Ranges are an attraction for touring motorcycle riders in Victoria. These roads can provide a challenge to riders. Unfortunately this leads to motorcyclists being over-represented in casualty crashes in Yarra Ranges.

Yarra Ranges is ranked equal second highest for motorcyclist casualties out of all Victorian municipalities.

To help you become a safer rider and to enjoy your experience on our local roads Instructed ride at Reefton.

  • Taking care of your bike - roadworthiness.
  • Bike set-up - brakes, clutch, chain, lights, cables, mirrors, tyres, suspension.
  • Throttle control - smooth!
  • Cornering - enter wide, stay wide, exit left.
  • Braking - in a straight line before the corner.
  • Eye direction - look through the corner (with your chin!)
  • Lane position - see/be seen/be safe.
  • Other road users - cars, 4WDs, logging trucks and wildlife
  • "Dead area" for mobile phones/emergency services (Help could be up to one hour away!)
  • Rider fatigue - are you at risk? (Remember: the only cure for fatigue is sleep)
  • Protective clothing.
  • Rides commence at 9am sharp to finish at approximately 4pm. Riders must arrive by 8.30am.
  • (no learner riders allowed)

The fee is $75 per rider (non-refundable). There is a maximum of 30 riders per a ride.
